The owner of a commercial building wishes to install a photovoltaic (PV) project and connect it to the utility grid under the net metering (NM) mechanism. The annual electricity consumption of the building is 15MWh. Under the NM mechanism, a renewable energy project cannot produce more than 30% of its annual consumption. Assume that the maximum irradiance on the plane of array is 1100 W/m2, the minimum ambient temperature is 15∘C, the maximum ambient temperature is 35∘C, the annual peak sun hours on a plane of 20 degrees facing north is 1800 h and the average efficiency of the inverter is 90%. a) Among the inverters listed in Table Q 2-1, suggest which one(s) may be used for the design. Efficiency of the inverters is 90%. [4 marks] b) Using information of the selected inverter and the PV panel provided in Tables Q2-1 and Q2-2 respectively, size the PV system.
