In 1990 a new pesticide started to be used to protect cotton fields from boll worms. Pesticide-resistant bollworms were first detected in appreciable numbers in 2000. Consider the three time periods: A before 1990 (No pesticide use) B = 1990-2000 (Pesticide in use but few resistant worms) C = after 2000 - (Pesticide in use and many resistant worms) How did the rate at which new resistance mutations appeared (on a per boll worm basis) change between periods A, B, and C? O The rate should have been the same in each period (A-B-C) O The rate should have been higher in period B than either A or C (A<B>C) O The rate should have been higher in periods B and C than in period A (A<B-C) O The rate should have been higher in period A and B than in period C (A-B>C)
