In humans, the CFTR protein is a transporter that plays a rolein the HCO3/Cl- exchange across cellmembranes. The inability to perform this function effectively leadsto cystic fibrosis. Mutations in the coding area of the CFTR genelead to dysfunctional protein. Also, suppose there is another gene(CFTR-TF) that when expressed allows the CFTR gene to beexpressed.
Assume there are four different types of alleles for the CFTRgene:
Also assume that there are 2 different types of allelesfor the CFTR-TF gene:
Predict (that is draw) what would be CFTR activity for the individual based on their genotype. Genotype: C'C; IF TF¹ 3 age Genotype: C'C' TF¹TF 3 15 age 15 Genotype: CC³; IF TF 3 age Genotype: CC; IF TF 3 15 age 15 Genotype: C'C+; TF TF¹ 3 15 age Genotype: C'C: TF TF¹ 3 age 15 Note: Use a line graph (not a bar graph) to show changes over time to demonstrate your understanding. Use graph #1 for C¹C¹: TF¹TF¹ as your point of reference against which to relate the tendencies in the other graphs. An example of a line graph is shown in the graph for CCTF TF². The dotted line represents threshold activity.
