A one-sample z-test was used to test the following hypotheses:
H0 : μ = 53 and H1 : μ ≠ 53. Select the pair of 95% and 99%
confidence intervals (which were based on the z-test) that are
consistent with the following conclusion: ‘There is moderate, but
not strong, evidence against the null hypothesis. In fact the
population mean appears to be less than 53.’
The 95% confidence interval is (37.8, 61.4) and the 99%
confidence interval is (34.1, 65.1).
The 95% confidence interval is (27.0, 50.6) and the 99%
confidence interval is (23.3, 54.3).
The 95% confidence interval is (54.1, 76.9) and the 99%
confidence interval is (50.0, 81.0).
The 95% confidence interval is (22.8, 46.4) and the 99%
confidence interval is (19.1, 50.1).
The 95% confidence interval is (60.0, 83.6) and the 99%
confidence interval is (56.3, 87.3).
