Quality control in the manufacturing of wire requires observing
surface flaws. The number of flaws per unit length of the wire is
assumed to be distributed according to the Poisson distribution. On
average, there are 3.3 flaws per mm of wire.
Question 2
Q2. We are now interested in evaluating the probability that two
consecutive flaws are at least 0.5 mm apart.
Let T be the distance between two consecutive flaws.
The first step (identify the distribution): T is distributed
according to  distribution (choose from Poisson or
exponential).
The second step (identify the parameter): The parameter 𝜆λ of
the distribution of T is  (round to 1 decimal place).
The third step (calculate the probability): The probability that
T is at least 0.5 mm is  (round to 3 decimal places).
