Question 2:1 Suppose we have a 4 metre long uniform beam. The beam is simply supported on the left and elastically supported on the right. We place 3 boxes on the beam. Each box is 2 metres long and 1 metre high. Two boxes are placed next to each other on the beam and (together) cover the entire length of the beam. The third box is placed on top of the other two, in the centre. The beam and boxes look like: TTTTT Om 4m In this scenario: • The beam has flexural rigidity 100,000 Nm². • Each box contributes a uniform load of 10 N/m over its length. The spring of the elastic support has stiffness given by the constant ko = -1. What are the boundary conditions for this beam? What is the function f(x) for the load applied to the beam? (i.e., when you solve the differential equation for deflection d's/d = f(x)/EI what is f(z)?). Find the deflection function y(z) for the beam and load.
