A clinical psychologist is curious if cognitive behavioral
therapy or a psychodynamic therapy works best to treat clients with
anxiety. In order to test which method works best, the clinician
randomly assigns 20 clients into two groups, those receiving
cognitive behavioral therapy (n=10) and those receiving
psychodynamic therapy (n=10). After receiving the assigned
therapy for one month, she then measures the number of anxiety
symptoms that clients experience over the course of the following
