Question 4 (25%) Column C is an interior spiral RC column in a multistorey office building of floor height 4 m. The column is connected to floor beams of depth 600 mm in both X and Y direction. The building is considered braced. The spiral column C is circular with diameter 600 mm with main longitudinal reinforcement 18 bars 22 mm diameter each (1822) and 8 mm spiral with pitch 50 mm. (Fcu = 30 MPa and Fy = 360 MPa). It is required to: 1. Calculate the ultimate load capacity of the spiral column as per Egyptian Code. 2. Design a square tied column to replace the spiral column with the same load capacity and show the reinforcement details in cross section carrying out all necessary calculations as per Egyptian code.
