A pump delivers oil (SG = 0.85 )from tank A to tank B with a capacity of 3126. 5 li/min and its output pressure is 145 kPa. Tank A is located 1.25 meters below the centerline of the pump, and the pressure measured from that distance is 15 cm Hg vacuum. Tank B is located 7.75 meters above the centerline of the pump. The sizes of the suction and discharge are 30 cm and 20 cm, respectively, and the size of the motor is 20 kW. It is also found out that the total equivalent length of pipes, valves, and fittings of suction and discharge lines are 17.25 m and 19.25 m, respectively. Consider the Darcy- Weisbach factor of 0.02 for both suction and discharge, determine the (a) water power in kW, (b) efficiency of the pump in % (c) Type of pump and specific speed of the pump running at 1600 rpm. (d) new volume flow rate, new output pressure, and new power requirement if the original pump has a speed of 1600 rpm motor is replaced by 2400 rpm motor.
