A study is done by an NGO group in two Delhi University colleges to determine from which college students graduate with more math classes. From SRCC college, 11 graduates were taken and their average is four math classes with a standard deviation of 1.5 math classes. From Hindu college, 9 graduates were taken and their average is 3.5 math classes with a standard deviation of 1 math class. The NGO group believes that a student who graduates from SRCC college has taken more math classes, on the average. Both populations follow normal distribution. Test at a 1% significance level and answer the following questions. (a) Is this a test of two means or two proportions? (b) Are the populations standard deviations known or unknown? (c) Which test do you use to perform the test and why? (d) What are the null and the alternate hypotheses? Is this test right-, left-, or two-tailed. Justify? (f) What is the p-value? Do you reject or not reject the null hypothesis. Justify?
