2. Perform the following analyses/computations using the data from problem 7.22 in the textbook Perform all computations by hand and show your work. You may check results with a calculator. (5 points) a. Compute the two sample t-test for the given set of data. Assume variances are equal. Test whether the means or equal or not at the 5% level of significance. b. Compute the SS Treatment, SS Error, and SS Total. c. Construct the ANOVA table with columns for Sourco, df, SS, MS, F. d. Test the hypothesis for equality of means at the 5% significance level. c. Construct a side-by-side box-plot of the data grouped by Portfolio (drawn by hand). £ Do the decisions to reject or fail to reject the null hypothesis in part (2.) and part(d.) match? g. Square the value of the test statistic that you computed in part (a.). Does it match the value of F computed in part (c.) (within rounding error)? 7.22 The risk of an investment is measured in tens of the variance in the return that could be observed. Random samples of 10 yearly returns were obtained from two different portfolios, The data are given next in thousands of dollars) Portfolio 1 Portfolio 2 130 130 135 144 154 13 1447 131 150 135 15 135 126 149 136 150 127 110 132 11
