Bill is doing some prep work for the upcoming draft and is
trying to decide whether he should draft a running back or sign one
as a free agent. He thinks there might be a relationship between
age and performance, so he gathers the following information about
the age of the running back and the average number of fumbles per
game for 8 of his top picks.
Fumbles (Y)
Mx= 29.25
EX=234
EX2=7036
My=2.56
EY=20.5
EY2=61.47
a. Compute the appropriate correlation between age and
fumbles.
b. Describe the relationship.
c. Compute the effect size and describe it.
d. Compute the least squares regression line relating age to
fumbles.
e. If a running back is 26, what do you predict the number of
fumbles will be?
f. What is the standard error of your estimate?
