Neighbors noticed that the Lawson's house was on fire and called 911. Once extinguished, CSI team members discovered the body of a 38-year- old woman, Linda Lawson, in her kitchen. Autopsy results Internal autopsy: • damaged heart • internal bleeding • bullet fragmented into 2 pieces-1 piece lodged in the spine and 1 piece lodged in the back External autopsy: • penetrating gunshot wound of the chest . no soot on the skin around the entrance wound • no soot on clothing near entrance wound red abrasions on skin near entrance wound . head contusion above the eyebrow

Given current information, it appears to be either distant or intermediate range (the findings are not consistent with contact range wound).
