Part 4: The company considers itself to have quality processes in line with 6o principles Hardness of 140 samples of steel in engine parts is measured and grouped as follows. Hardness 80-82 82-84 84-86 86-88 88-90 90-92 Number 16 23 35 28 21 17 You have been asked to determine the mean and the standard deviation of the engine parts. From the data gathered and processed you have been asked to determine the following assuming a normal distribution: a) The probability that a randomly chosen engine part having a hardness more than 88. b) The probability that a randomly chosen engine part having a hardness between 85 and 90. One of the machines is causing quality problems as 5% of the engine parts produced on this machine have been found to be defective. Find the probability of finding 0, 1, 2, 3, and 4 defective parts in a sample of 50 parts (assuming a binomial distribution).
