Assume the incoming photons are uniformly distributed in r and y. (a) What is the probability distribution of the incoming photon x position, again considering this one pixel only? Is it continuous or discrete? (b) What are the mean and standard deviation of the error on the x and y positions assigned to incoming photons? Hint: r and y are completely independent, and you can solve for both with the same 1-dimensional treatment.
