Her respiratory rate is 35 bpm, her lungs have wheezes bilaterally throughout the fields, she is pink in color and her o2 saturation level when checked with the monitor is 89%. You provide a breathing treatment as ordered (it is ordered prn-as needed every 4 hours). You encourage her to take deep breaths slowly through her nose and out through pursed lips. The patient states that she is feeling better and breathing easier. Ten minutes later, her respiratory rate is 26 and her O2 sat level is 94%. Her lungs are clear throughout.
