SBAR practice The patient, Marla Mannatee is a 76 year old female who had right hip surgery yesterday. Dr. Goodman did an ORIF (open reduction with internal fixation). She had been doing well but has had nausea and been vomiting for the past 1.5 hours. Her incision site is intact with a small amount of serosanguineous drainage on the dressing. She rates her pain in the surgical area at a 3, the same as it was 6 hours ago. Pedal pulses are palpable in both extremities. CMTS + bilaterally. Vitals are 99.1 oral; 103, 18, 112/64-baseline BP was 102/68. She was given Morphine IV 1 mg 1 hour ago for pain. She has no known allergies. I Her IV is running at a TKO (to keep open) rate about 15 ml/hr. She has no major history except that she has osteoporosis and hypothyroidism. It is 4 am, you are going to call the surgeon on call.
