To simplify the calculations, the channel (a) is assumed to be flattened out into a single plate, as shown in (b) and (c). Please note that the area of the holes must be calculated considering the plate thickness associated to each hole. In the same way, the term S²/4g must be multiplied by the adequate thickness. For lines that run from holes in the web to holes in the flange (with different thickness), the thickness can be averaged.
