You are verifying medication for the pediatric oncology unit
today. You are evaluating Bethany Alfson, who is a 7 year
old female patient (21.8 kg) who recently received a
hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT). She is to receive
Micafungin 3 mg/kg/dose every 48 hours today for fungal
infection prophylaxis. In your hospital, you have the 100 mg
vials micafungin. These vials are reconstituted with 5 ml of NS
to a final concentration of 20 mg/ml. By protocol, each
single dose is further diluted to 0.5 mg/ml before
administration.
If each infusion is administered over 1 hour, what is the rate
in ml/hr? Answer in whole numbers.
