Q1. How much would be the maximum power generated in kW by
a HAWT with rotor diameter of 200 m and with an average wind speed
of 18 miles/hour. Assume the density of air to be 1.2 kg/m3 . If
the turbine rotates at 20 rpm, what will be the torque at maximum
efficiency?
Q2. A HAWT with rotor diameter of 200 m operates at a
location where the average wind speed is 18 miles/hour. The turbine
rotates at 20 rpm. Assume the density of air to be 1.2 kg/m3 .
Calculate the power output if (a) wake is only considered; and (b)
both wake and effects of drag is considered with ε = 0.02.
