The pinion of a helical gear pair, with a normal module of
4 mm and a normal pressure angle of 20o, is supported in
bearings equally spaced on either side of the centre line of the
gear. The pinion has 22 teeth, and the helix angle is 40 degrees.
If the speed of the pinion is 970 rev/min and 75kW is being
transmitted, find the radial load supported by one of the bearings
in kN. Give your answer to 2dp.
