Chvorinov’s rule can be used to optimise the mould design during
casting. Before casting, you are asked to determine the mould
constant, Cm, for a given mould by conducting an experiment. Assume
the mould is of cubic shape with a side length of 15cm and n=2. You
measure the total solidification time to be 2.5mins, find Cm. Give
your answer in units of min/cm2.
