The sun produces energy via the proton-proton cycle: 4p → Henuclei + 2et + 2v +57 Quantify how much energy is released in the reaction. Assume m, = 0. One of these gammas can be converted into a considerable number of infrared photons while traveling towards the surface of the sun. We take the average wavelength linfrared of an infrared photon to be 1 pm. Compute how many are produced by a single gamma (Hint: the total energy of a gamma ray photon with d = 250 fm (1 fm = 10-15 m) has to be conserved).
