Background
Mr. Ankomah after graduating from a business major with few
courses in Analysis and Design decided to setup Genius Mobile auto
detailing services in Accra that will visit customers at their
homes or businesses in Accra-Tema metro, and use traditional,
high-quality hand washing and waxing methods. In addition to retail
customers, several auto dealers in the metro have also expressed
interest in Genius Mobile Auto detailing services and Mr. Ankomah
is get his business started.
Mr. Ankomah plans to hire AIT students as technicians, train and
supply them, and offer them a share of the profits as an incentive.
Kwadwo Gyamfi who graduated with Mr. Ankomah, who is an IT major,
offered to help Mr. Ankomah set up an information system to meet
his needs.
Kwadwo Gyamfi suggested to Mr. Ankomah that, as part of the data
and process flow to prepare an initial context diagram and a DFD
diagram 0, and not to be too concerned about the details — just the
main entities, data flows, and data stores.
In addition to the data and process model that will be created,
Kwadwo Gyamfi also recommended that you prepare an object model. He
suggested that you focus on the main actors and events, and that it
was OK to use your imagination.
Thinking it over, Mr. Ankomah knows that he will have employees,
retail customers, auto dealer accounts, one or more suppliers, and
his local bank, where Mr. Ankomah plans to set up a business
checking account to handle the business. Mr. Ankomah also plans to
keep track of customers, employee information, profit-sharing data,
and an operations log, among other things.
