Put node numbers, member numbers and degrees of freedom numbers [Marks: 10] 2. Calculate member stiffness matrices in the global coordinate system and assemble them in a structure stiffness matrix, i.e. k matrix. [Marks: 10] 3. Write the stiffness equation, solve for unknown displacements and calculate unknown forces by matrix operations. You may use Microsoft excel for calculations but you have to submit handwritten papers. [Marks: 10] 4. • Calculate reactions. Draw the Shear force diagram and the bending moment diagrams[Marks: 10] 5. Based on the Bending moment diagram determined above, justify the choice of having the girder as h2 inch x h1 inch. Find a suitable AISC W shape for fy = 36 ksi. [Marks: 10]
