A geotechnical exploration of a site has been carried out as
shown in the soil profiles, where its properties are shown. A
footing will be built at each site and will be removed at the
discretion of the designer. Each survey was carried out with the
following characteristics:
• Drilling diameter: 150 mm
• Hammer energy Er = 50 (Hammer efficiency = Er / 60)
• Sampling type: Standard.
For each of the established profiles B-1 through B-3, determine the
following:
A. Recommended shoe size.
B. Allowable Load Capacity.
Load on footing = 350 kN
M = 29 kN-m
Allowable settlement = 25 mm.
C. Estimate the settlement that will occur due to the external load
and check it. Ignore the secondary consolidation settlement.
D. Draw each footing with its soil profile, with the dimensions and
characteristics finally determined.
Note: Based on the soil profiles shown, use correlations to
estimate the strength properties of soils for your
calculations.
