Project description: You are required to design a foundation system for the building shown in figure 1 (8 story building with basement). Moreover, it is suggested to design and analyze the stability of a sheet pile wall. Concerning the foundation of the building, two solutions were proposed: raft (mat) foundation and piles. The soil foundation is composed of two layers of clay: - Layer 1: Cu = 90 kN/m2, y = 18.0 kN/m?, 19.2 kN/m. - Layer 2: Cy = 60 kN/m2, and Year = 17.5 kN/m2 - Level of groundwater table is at the mid-height of layer 1.
