6. a) Two different compounds P and Q with molecular formula CsH100 have the same skeletal structure. Compounds P and Q react with 2,4-DNPH to give orange precipitates but there are no observable changes when reacted with 12, NaOH. Meanwhile, only P produces silver mirror with Tollens' reagent. i) Draw the possible structures of P and Q. ii) Give the IUPAC names of P and Q. iii) Suggest a chemical test to distinguish between P and Q and write the chemical equations. [7 marks] b) Reaction of compound R with PCC yields compound S, CH3CH2CH2CHO. Oxidation of S with K2Cr2O7, H+ gives compound T, whereas condensation of S with 2,4- dinitrophenylhydrazine produces compound U. Treatment of S in an acidified solution of KCN produces compound V. Draw the structures of R, T, U and V. Give IUPAC name of R, S and T. Name the type of reaction that converts Sto V. [8 marks]
