A vehicle of mass m has a suspension that can be represented by an elastic spring of constant k and negligible damping, interposed between the mass of the vehicle and the wheels (considered to have negligible mass), as shown in Figure 3.22. The vehicle travels with a constant speed v on a regular and horizontal pavement in which there is a small transverse step of height h and length L. Study the vertical movement of the vehicle, calculating the proper period and the amplitude of the oscillations. It will be assumed: that the size of the wheel is negligible compared to the step, so it passes instantly from the pavement to the step and vice versa; that there are no effects related to percussions; and that the vertical displacement that the vehicle body may suffer while climbing the step can be neglected
