exercise?
The pneumatic cylinder has an axis of oscillation at F and serves
to actuate the lever AB of the quick-joint clamp that immobilizes
the part in position while it is being machined. For an air
pressure of 400 kPa against the 50 mm diameter piston, find the
clamping force in G for the position α = 10°. In that position, the
piston rod is perpendicular to AB.
Additionally, determine the shear and bearing stresses in bolt D if
its diameter is 12 mm, and bar DE has a thickness of 6.4 mm.
