Problem 4. A 33 kV, three-phase, 45 MVA synchronous generator is connected to a 50 Hz infinite bus. The generator is supplying rated power at 0.8 power factor lagging, if the synchronous armature has negligible resistance and reactance per phase of the generator is 100. Determine: a) The excitation voltage per-phase and the load angle b) The armature current, load angle and power factor when the generator output is reduced to 30 MW by reducing the turbine input c) The maximum power that the generator can deliver without losing synchronism, armature current and the power factor In parts a) and b) assume constant excitation. d) Determine the minimum excitation required for the generator to deliver rated output without losing synchronisation
