A 4-pole, 6.6 kV, 6 MVA, three-phase, 50 Hz, star-connected synchronous generator has the open-circuit characteristic as tabulated below: Field current (A) 3.2 Open-circuit voltage (kV) 3.1 (line value) 5 4.9 7.5 10 14 6.6 7.5 8.24 It is observed that a field current of 7.5 A circulates a armature current of 1000 A during short-circuit test. Neglect armature resistance. (a) Determine the value of synchronous reactance adjusted, Xs(adj). Also calculate its per- unit value taking machine rating as the base. (b) Calculate the percentage voltage regulation when the generator delivers a full load cur- rent at 0.8 lagging power factor.
